Rochester ny radio stations

With the rise of the 24 hour news cycle and the increasing availability of the internet, there is always a wide variety of sources to get news from. Business news, political news, and cultural news, both national and international, all enjoy an excessive amount of coverage. Did you notice that the one thing left out was local news? The big national news companies like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are not concerned with what is happening everyday in the Flour City. For residents of Rochester NY local news is still the key to understanding the events in their neck of the woods.

Just like any other major city in the States, Rochester has access to local television stations for content that is customized for its residents. The Flower City has multiple TV stations. News 10 NBC, ABC 13WHAM, and WXXI public broadcasting all call Rochester home. They all strive to make news on local Rochester events their focus. These outlets cover the Lilac Festival, local eateries like Victoire, and local political races. These are things you are not likely to find when you tune in to a national network.

Even with the availability of television and internet, Rochester NY radio stations continue to be a relevant part of the media landscape in Western New York. One of the mainstays of the area is WXXI radio. WXXI runs programming as part of National Public Radio. The most interesting thing about this Rochester radio station is that it offers the broad perspective people like about big media while focusing on stories that matter most to area residents.

WXXI recently ran a story talking about the famous Park Avenue Summer Art Festival. Every year people from all over the State, not to mention from different parts of the world, flock to Rochester to take part in this amazing event. Organizers of the festival regularly expect upwards of 250,000 people. Yet, even with those great numbers, you will not hear about this economically and culturally important event anywhere else but on Rochester radio stations.

Rochester ny local news continues to be a crucial part of the entertainment and informational fabric of the area. If you are frustrated with never hearing about what is happening near you, change the channel or frequency. The Rochester news you care about is waiting for you in local radio and television.

Absolutely. I listen to the Wease 95.1 every morning on my way to work. They play great music and they talk about some interesting stuff in the area. Don’t get me wrong. I like national news but I get sick of hearing about the same junk all the time.
